About Us

Gisborne Peak Winery, located in Gisborne South, is open 7-days a week.  Wine should be fun, and the relaxed, casual style of the winery reflects this. The wood-fired pizzas are delicious and are served on weekends and public holidays.  A savory platter, the Tasters’s Platter, is available daily.  During the winter months the winery is serving ‘Winter Warmers’ – homemade soup, stew or try Barb’s Texas Chili.  Garlic bread and dessert is also available.

The setting is unique, with plenty of seating on the open-air deck over the water or within the heated marquee and verandahs.

The vineyard at Gisborne Peak grows low yielding premium grapes for their estate label wines.  The vineyard is planted out to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Semillon and Riesling.  They also produce a sparkling style of Pinot Noir – delightful!  Visitors are invited to a tutored tasting at cellar door (no charge) or to sample selected wines of their choice.

Gisborne Peak Winery is also home to MyVine®, Adopt-a-Vine program.  This popular gift giving program is fun, quirky and educational.  People can adopt a vine for a 3-year period.  They are invited to Hands-On Days throughout the year to participate in the vineyard experience.  They learn more about the vine-to-wine process, are entitled to discount off wine purchases and can get personalized wine labels for gift giving.

Owners Bob and Barbara Nixon have much experience in the wine industry, with Barbara the founder of Victoria Winery Tours.  Bob was one of the first to plant in the Macedon Ranges in 1978 and took a gamble on the cool to cold region of Gisborne South.  The gamble paid off!.  The Cellar Door is open daily and serves wood-fired pizzas on weekends.

Groups are welcome and the winery has a number of group packages.  Enquire at the winery or by phone.

Once you discover Gisborne Peak Winery, you will return, again and again.  It’s a promise!

Accommodation

Gisborne Peak Winery now offers 4-star accommodation.  The three new eco-cottages are perfect for that weekend escape.  All are fully self-contained and situated with views over the vineyard and lake.  Each cottage sleeps two adults.

Powered by the wind and sun, the cottages use sustainable, renewable energy resources. They are surrounded by an Australian garden and landscaping and only a short stroll to the cellar door.  A place where luxury, relaxation, fine wine, food and sustainability all come together!

Events

  • Budburst:  November.  Yearly celebration with music, special food and new release wines.
  • Hands-on Days:  Quarterly throughout the year to understand the vine-to-wine process.  Call for exact dates.

Featured Wines

  • Pinot Noir Foundation Block:  Each year a parcel of grapes are set aside from the original planting.  These older vines produce a big bodied Pinot Noir that is rich in black cherry and plum flavours.  The palate is nicely balanced and the colour is exceptional, due to the rare clone of these pinot noir vines.
  • Chardonnay (oaked):   This Chardonnay is treated with just a ‘kiss of french’, giving it a lovely stone fruit nose with a creamy texture.
  • Pinot Rose:  An outstanding Rosé style wine with a real ‘wow’ finish.
